SRU or SAIL Refractory Unit (erstwhile Bharat Refractories Limited) is now a unit of the prestigious Steel authority of India limited. The unit constitutes 4 refractory plants with one in BHANDARIDAH(Bokaro), the other two in Ranchi Road (RRP & IFICO, Hazaribagh) and one in Chhatisgarh's BHILAI. BRL was designated a "Sick Company" by the government per Section 20 (1) of the Sick Industrial Companies Act (SICA). A proposal, later initiated to wind down the company, was remanded by the court. The company posted aggregated revenues of 16,428 lakh (US$312.1 million) in fiscal 2006[1]
